About US
Hello and welcome to our art site.
First, please allow us to define art according to Wikipedia (the below definition is a small part of the explanation).
Art is a diverse range of human activities involving the creation of visual, auditory or performing artifacts (artworks), which express the creator's imagination, conceptual ideas, or technical skill, intended to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. Other activities related to the production of works of art include art criticism and the history of art. We consider photography to be one of the many types of art and a way of expressing it.
WE are a team of two, a husband & wife duo, Deb & Bill.
Deb has loved photography as a hobby since the mid 1990s. Therefore, over the years we stored thousands of her images on our computers as we traveled and were not sure what to do with most of them.
I, Bill, finally retired in late 2012 from a 41 year career, which for many of those years required traveling to different places. Deb actually assisted me for many years by traveling with me as well as being a major assistance in the business. Deb is about 10 years younger than I, Bill, and we have been married since late 1977. Deb worked as a surgical assistance for many years before she started traveling and helping with my business. Since she finally tired of the traveling in 1995 she resumed her profession in the medical field and decided to further advance her career by studying and training for and passing the test to become a Certified Surgical First Assistance, which she plans to retire from in early 2022.
After retiring in late 2012 and since Deb was so passionate about photography I thought I should try it since I do not fish, golf or hunt and I prefer to spend my time with my best friend and the love of my life, Deb.
It began. I, Bill, bought a Nikon D7200 plus lens to start in late 2014. Deb was using a Canon Rebel at the time. However Deb & I have both since upgraded our cameras & lens as we learned the importance of using prograde equipment. We quickly realized we needed to attend photography classes if we wanted to learn about photography and to, hopefully, be able to capture stunning images. Therefore, we became members of a photography group based in Tallahassee, Fl. with several amazing photographers as teachers. The head of the group was/is Richard Higgins, a gentleman with over 50 years of photography experience at the time, whom we now consider a good friend. WE discovered later that Rick is almost exactly 3 years younger than Bill and both had served in the military in the late 1960s, which meant we had some things in common. We attended weekend photography classes even though attending each class incurred an almost 5 hour round-trip drive for us. After 6 months of the weekend classes we realized there is a lot more to truly understanding photography than "point & shoot". In addition, we have watched hundreds of youtube videos about different photography subjects as well as read many e-books. And, of course, there has been a ton of trials & errors with the learning, which seems to never cease.
Then there is the computer software editing and artistic programs. Now this truly got us (especially Bill) hooked. Between Photoshop CC plus several artistic programs we now have, we have invested considerable time, $$$$, and brain cells to learning how to artistically work with photographs. WE both still have MUCH to learn but to our credit we have, so far, learned a great deal and feel we have produced some pretty nice art works. But, of course, the final judgement on that subject lies in your hands, the general public.
WE sincerely thank you for taking the time to view our artworks and we ask you to visit often as we post new images to our art-sites as often as possible. Should you buy a copy of any of our works we will be most grateful and honored beyond words.
