Artist's Description
I came upon this gorgeous adult Black Crowned Night Heron (scientific name is Nycticorax Nycticorax) while on another recently shoot at the Saint Marks National Wildlife Refuge located on the coast of Florida south of Tallahassee as it was perched on a tree branch above a swampy pond barely out from the shore. The heron was kind enough to tolerate me photographing it for several minutes as it just sat there and only moved very little. I even tried making some crazy low vocal noise to get it to move a little more but it ignored me as if it would not be bothered with me. So I accepted my good fortune and shot many, many frames of this beautiful bird. Should you have an interest in buying a copy of this image to have printed to canvass, photo-paper or any of FAA's many other available medias please be assured FAA's watermark will NOT appear on your printed media when you receive it as FAA removes the watermark before it goes to print. All visits to my FAA-Pixels art site are welcome...

Bill, your portrait of this beautiful black crowned night heron is spectacular! Lovely clarity and great eye-contact... wow! Your wonderful enthusiasm in photography and life itself is evident in your amazing images... keep up the awesome work! F/L
DB Hayes replied:
Hello Brian: Thank you for visiting. And a really BIG THANK YOU for the marvelous compliments. I was talking with a mentor yesterday who was one of the 2 people most helpful for the advancements Deb & I made during 2016 and told him "I cannot remember ever committing myself in something so completely as I have done with this photography/art world since Deb asked me to give it a try after retiring in late 2012". I suppose part of it was to make her happy, which I always love to do but then something happened I never expected, a fire was born within me that seems to get bigger everyday. Not sure how to explain it. Here I go again. Getting carried away so I'll stop. Thanks again for your gracious compliments. Bill & Deb Hayes

Bill, welcome to Poetic Poultry Group where your superb Heron portrait is featured! Glad to have you with us! http://fineartamerica.com/groups/poetic-poultry-.html
DB Hayes replied:
Anita: I cannot thank you enough. I know you've already read the mistake I made with the first THANK YOU in the discussions section. I posted the Night Heron image to your site then uploaded my Red-Tailed Hawk when I noticed you had already featured the Night Heron, I got so excited I thanked you for featuring the Hawk instead of the Night Heron. Of course, I caught my mistake and corrected it but it happened. Even though I'm a long way from being a "kid" anymore sometimes I still get excited like one. Something I think none of us should lose in life. Thank you again. Bill
