1 - FAA Portraits - Birds: Featured on November 08, 2016
2 - Wilds Birds Of The World: Featured on November 08, 2016
Pictured are 2 Cormorants enjoying the sunshine as they are perched high near the top of a tree on the bank of the Wacissa River, which is located about 20 miles east, southeast of Tallahassee, Florida. I, Deb, photographed this couple recently while Bill and I kayaked part of the river.
Phalacrocoracidae (scientist name) is a family of some 40 species of aquatic birds commonly known as cormorants and shags. Several different classifications of the family have been proposed recently, and the number of genera is disputed. There is no consistent distinction between "cormorants" and "shags" as these appellations have been assigned to different species randomly.
All visits to our FAA-Pixels art site are welcomed, encouraged and appreciated. Please visit often and, if you will, please tell your family and friends about our art sites They may find something they like and thank you for the tip. Thank you for visiting.
