During a recent visit to the Saint Marks National Wildlife Refuge, which is located along the Gulf of Mexico coast south of Tallahassee, Florida Deb & I came upon this Great Blue Heron (scientific name is Ardea Herodias) as it looked to be settled down for a rest on a dead tree branch. Of course, being it was such a beautiful heron we started shooting right away. This is actually my image, which I shot with my Nikon camera plus my 150-600mm Sigma lens. When I captured this image I did so using the full 600mm of zoom to get as much feather details as possible. Furthermore, I was hand-holding the camera with the image stabilizer engaged to, hopefully, prevent blur. You can be the judge of whether of not it worked.
