During one of our recent kayaking trips on the Wacissa River located in north Florida east of Tallahassee about 25 miles or so I paddled our kayak up a slightly narrow canal, which fed into the main body of the river. We had been told by a couple on shore while we had been unloading the kayak there was a rather large owl that could be seen up this canal most of the time. Of course, the couple had noticed us loading our camera equipment and assume rightfully so we may have an interest in knowing the whereabouts of the owl. Therefore, we were actually searching for the owl when we came upon these 2 beautiful red-tailed hawks (scientific name is buteo jamaicensis) perched on a dead tree branch slightly overhanging the canal water. Needless to write, I laid the paddle aside and Deb & I started shooting. The pair hung around for a minute or so, then flew off as, I suppose, we had disrupted their calm morning time. However, before doing so we managed to capture a few good quality images or so we think and hope you'll agree.
All visits to our FAA-Pixels art sites are welcomed, encouraged and appreciated. Please visit often and, if you will, tell your family and friends about our art sites. They may find something they like and thank you for the tip. Thank you for visiting. Bill & Deb Hayes
